End of the world... but not really

In the last few years the world has seen volcanoes erupting, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods and tornadoes…all of which culminated in a prediction that world would end this last Saturday (21 May 2011)… albeit by an American Pastor who has subsequently gone missing…

Needless to say the world didn’t end but it made for some interesting thoughts.
Thoughts like:

When the world does actually end, will any of us really be ready for it? I guess the answer to that depends on what your definition of ‘ready’ is…

What is it that I want to have accomplished by “the end” ?
Hmmm… no that’s far too deep for a Monday night!

And the obvious question ofcourse is, how will it actually end? Meteors? The sky parting to reveal a superior being saying something in a deep, booming voice like “The end is here mortals, prepare to face your judgement” followed by thunder and lightening…
I somehow doubt that, but you cant help think of that kind of situation with all the Hollywood creations of “the end.”

With all this in mind though, I decided to make a list of the top 10 things I would do, if we had 24hrs notice that world was going to end:

  1. Chocolate – I would go and get lots of chocolate (this came to mind because I feel like chocolate now…hahaha)
  2. SCUBA dive- purely because for the 45minutes that I was under the water, the world would feel like nothing was happening
  3. Sex – No explanation needed
  4. Road trip to Cape Town – See family and friends on the way

     5.  Party – In CT… serious party J
     6.  Say a short prayer… just in case
     7.  Sex – see above
     8.  Break into the Lamborghini show room and get a Murcielago

     9.  Have sex in the Lamborghini

    10.  Party till the end…

I have no doubt there are a few you think of to add…so please… feel free to do so and while you do, I have no doubt that, like me, you will think of those you love and how short life really is and how much you still want to do.

So even though it was a laughable predicition, it still provoked some interesting thoughts.
Goldfish said it best… Get busy living!!!

That’s all for now, so till next time…
Keep on, keeping on!
